Illustrator Anna Higgie has just opened an exhibition of prints at Niche Frames on Zetland rd, Bristol. Curated by Niche – who have been giclee printing Anna’s designs for over a decade – the exhibition showcases a wide range of the illustrator’s work.
The show includes prints from a series Anna made after visiting Rajasthan in India, using super saturated colours to capture the heat and vibrancy of the place the series is reminiscent of her travels. Alongside this is her Goddess series, and a collection called Hybrid which combines portraits/faces with organic forms, lines, and psychedelic colour. Niche have also selected Anna’s Cheer pirint which features dancing girls (she also did huge a mural version of this image in Bristol a few years ago), and Cicapair Tiger, an intricate psychedelic image with a white tiger at the centre, which was originally a commission for Korean skincare brand Dr Jart.
Telling us more on Niche, Anna states; “They are hands down the best giclee printers in Bristol, they’re attention to detail and perfectionism is second to none, and they are truly some of loveliest people around.”
Anna’s recent illustrations are all created digitally, using Procreate on iPad pro, whilst a few older designs were drawn using a Wacom and photoshop.
Anna has just had a baby and is currently working on a series inspired by her, Constellation, which will be printed and hung in her room. “I’m hoping that children and adults alike will enjoy looking for all of the clues and images, using their imaginations to create networks and connections through the constellation of objects and forms…” says the illustrator.
Catch this playful exploration of colour, shape, line, and form by Anna Higgie at Niche for the next few months.
