There’s no doubt that Berlin is home to the weirdest stories. So, it’s safe to say that; in Berlin, only animation beats reality. For the Festival of Animation Berlin, art director Bruno Oppido and his colleagues have brought to life some of Berlin’s craziest true stories.

The team developed a poster campaign in which they invited illustrators to share their own vision of “In Berlin, only animation beats reality”. These posters resulted in a series of vibrant, colourful prints spread across city’s most creative areas and train stations. Featured illustrators include Inga Ziemele, Egle Zvirblyte, Joe Taylor, Juan Molinet, Fabio Benê, Robin Davey and Rik Nieuwdorp.

Taking place from the 9th to the 11th October 2020 the festival annually presents the best of recent national and international animated films, focusing on artistic shorts across all styles; from traditional to stop motion, CGI, cross-media experiments and 360° films. The festival is framed by a range of different activities surrounding the art and industry of animation.
