Moscow-based illustrator Pashoot Ka creates a series of Procreate illustrations about Peter the Stone, a character who never moves while the world around him constantly changes, drawing from a found stone and a period of personal anxiety to build something quietly philosophical and quietly funny.
In 2023, Pashoot Ka found a stone on a road outside the city and turned it into Peter. It was during a period of anxiety, a time of thinking about changing direction after years as a graphic designer, and drawing Peter became a way of focusing on illustration and more personal stories.
The concept is elegant in its simplicity. Peter never moves. The world around him changes constantly. Each image is a self-contained story built on that single premise: what does stillness mean in different contexts, how does meaning shift when the subject stays fixed and everything else moves? A stone at the doctor. A stone among friends. A stone in love. The scenarios range from tender to comic to quietly strange, and the project explores perspective and storytelling through the most minimal possible character.

“One of my followers once said: the world is full of stone hearts so why can’t a stone have one?” Pashoot recalls. “That line stayed with me.”
The series has developed a community around it. Followers send ideas for situations to place Peter in, and Pashoot often responds directly, placing the character in the scenarios they suggest. Some followers have begun sending their own drawings of Peter, which has led to the beginnings of a draw-the-stone-in-your-style series to support other artists and build something collaborative from the project’s following.

The work is drawn in Procreate, combining imagination with everyday impressions from music, cinema and the observation of the world around her.
Pashoot Ka is an artist and illustrator based in Moscow, originally from Toshkent, Uzbekistan. His practice spans illustration, ceramics and linocut.
