Last week I had the pleasure of checking out the Edgar Martins exhibition at The Wapping Project, Bankside. ‘The Rehearsal of Space and The Poetic Impossibility to Manage the Infinite,’ is a collection of photographs and the result of a long term collaboration with the European Space Agency. The highly anticipated series reveals stark and striking images of sharp flashes of colour amongst maze like structures of interweaving metal. There are over 90 photographs in the collection, covering a range of curiously considered, space related subject matter. From satellites, to fuel rooms, to micro components Martins addresses the air of mystery surrounding space related activity and challenges the viewer to question if things seem to be what they really are. The exhibition is on until the 29th of May and is also hosting a talk with the photographer himself on this date.
