Los Angeles native, San Francisco based graphic designer Arianna Orland of Paper Jam Press has long been fascinated with letter forms and the urban landscape. Her most recent body of work, on the surface, is a no frills approach to poster design. Working strictly with gothic wood type, black ink and a Vandercook letterpress, she prints five to seven word phrases of what she calls words to live by. A closer read reveals these phrases, when stripped down to their most essential, blossom into powerful mantras, bolstering us all toward certainty.
