Based out of Padua, Italy, Mosè Cabrele is an illustrator working across artisinal printing techniques including linocut, xylography, lithography, and engraving, as well as digital practices.
“What I look for and propose has influences ranging from the most varied fields, from ancient and pre-Columbian art, from nature, to music and folklore. Essential for me is having excellent references, getting in touch with the customer trying to understand their needs and passions, and always aiming for something truly alternative and unique.”
Mosè’s latest project, Four Witches, looks at the witches of the north, south, west and east. He comments; “It is a theme very dear to me, as well as being an illustration work for the International School of Comics where I am a student”. In the work, Mosè aimed to bring together various elements, from Inuit art, to folklore, and Tibetan art. Each piece is an engraving made on linoleum, then printed on Rosaspina Fabriano paper.
This project will then be used as a study for his next work, where he will experiment with other printing techniques, and reproduce them with the use of pens and inks.
